Treaties Act
Title
1. This act shall be cited as the Treaties Act.
Definition
2. A treaty shall be defined as a written agreement between the region Spiritus and another region of NationStates.
Enacting a Treaty
3. The Chief Executive shall present the final draft of a treaty to the Legislature and will be automatically invited to participate in the discussion therein.
4. The Legislature shall debate the content and/or merit of the treaty for no less than three (3) days.
5. (a) Once the debate has been concluded, the Legislature may accept the treaty with a simple majority vote.
(b) Should the Legislature reject the treaty, the Legislature must present its reasons for doing so to the Chief Executive.
6. The treaty must then be signed by the Chief Executive and a representative of the region of whom Spiritus shall be in treaty with during a ceremony celebrating the friendship of the two regions. As soon as both signatures are present, the treaty will be officially recognized by the region of Spiritus.
Removing a Treaty
7. A treaty may be rendered void if
(a) The terms as outlined in the treaty have been breached by either party subject to the treaty, or
(b) The Legislature passes a majority vote in favor of ending a treaty, and the Chief Executive signs a "Notice of Annulment" presented by the Chair Potato.
Delegation; limits
8. The Chief Executive may delegate his powers and responsibilities under this Act to another citizen, to whom the provisions of this act with the exemption of Section 7 apply.
